Kidding 2011

Minny went into labor at about 10:30 pm last night after looking like she was about to for two days.  She only had one kid in there, so he was pretty big for a first-time mother.  Minny pushed and pushed and after about an hour a little baby boy Nuberhasli (cross between floppy-eared Nubian with Minny’s Oberhasli breed) was born.  He is mostly black with a few white markings on his head and belly.  It was a chilly night – about 10 degrees – but little baby goat got right up to start nursing and I don’t think he’s stopped since.  He is healthy and adorable.   Minny and her kid will stay separated from the other goats in a small pen for a day or two and milking starts tonight!
